D01 Beijing

Arrival Beijing transfer to hotel   

Visit Tiananmen Square, where the Mao’s Mausoleum and the Congress Hall are located; and  followed by Forbidden City, with the emperors palace in the heart of Beijing (So called because it was off limits for 500 years, covering an area of 250 acres, protected by an 10.7m high wall, marked off by towers at each corner)

D02 Beijing

Breakfast at hotel  

Visit Great Wall (Badaling Section), which was built in 770-475 B.C., climbing on top of 2484 miles long Great Wall is really amazing.

Visit Hutongs, lanes or Alleys formed by lines of Siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard) where old Beijing residents live, witness the vicissitude of the city by a trishaw.

D03 Beijing/ Lanzhou/ Lhasa

Transfer to airport for flight to Xining 

Arrival Xining and transfer to visit Kumbum Monastery (Ta Er Si in Chinese) – one of the six great monasteries of the Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It was built in 1577 on sacred ground – birthplace of Tsong Khapa, founder of the Yellow Hat sect.  Lunch at local restaurant en route. 

Transfer to train station for overnight train N917(20h28/21h40+1) or T264(19h56/21h00+1)  to Lhasa

Visit Jokhang Temple, most sacred temples in Tibet, a focal point for pilgrims from all over the country, then stroll on the pilgrims circuit, the Barkhor Street which is around the Jokhang Temple, and then visit Nuns-Monastery Ani Sangkhung

Visit Sera Monastery, a hundred of monks could be found in a garden practice their debating skills start at 15h00

D07 Lhasa/ Shigatze

Transfer from Lhasa to Shigatze with 05 hours drive (280 km) along Brahmaputra River and visit Dolma Lakhang in Nethang en route

D08 Shigatze/ Gyantse

Transfer from Shigatze to Gyantse with 2.5 hours drive (90 km).  An hour stop at Shalu Monastery, also includes visit to Palkor Chode and Kumbum Chode

D12 Longshen/ Guilin/ Yangshuo

An optional evening excursion of the show “Impression Sanjie Liu” (see remarks #9) is recommended to lovers of large-scale performance.  Please check with local guide for further details

Remarks:
01> Blackout dates: 12-21 Feb 2010 (Chinese New Year), 30 Apr-03 May 2010 (Labour Day Holiday) and 28 Sep - 08 Oct 2010 (National Day Holiday)
02> Flight / train no. and schedule is for reference only, it is subject to change at the discretion of flight carriers and railway corporation.  Final details will be advised as soon as the confirmation is received.
03> Travelling to Tibet is year around since the climate is similar to Europe with 4 seasons.   It is warmer in months of March to October, but there might be cloudy and rain.  This is the main season for domestic travellers from China and well-known sightseeing places could be very crowded.  In the winter time from Nov to Feb, it is very dry with fine weather of clear blue sky days for most of the time.  The temperature is around 10 oC during the day and could be dropped to 0 oC at night.  There are fewer tourists but with more Tibetan pilgrims going for their pilgrimage.
04> There are only 3 Tibetan German-speaking guides in Tibet.  As such, we will assign English-speaking guide to conduct transfers and tours in Tibet so as to ensure that “TIBETAN TOUR GUIDE” will be provided. In line with the policy of local authority in Tibet, change of guide is not allowed in the midway of tour.
05> Tour fare is inclusive of ticket for soft sleeper berth (4 pax in each cabin) on train Xining / Lhasa and demand for train ticket is high.  In case of soft sleeper berth compartments are fully booked, ticket for hard sleeper berth (6 pax in each cabin) will be provided for an overnight stay on train.  Besides, a supplement of USD 265 for each empty berth will be charged if a private cabin is required by client and it is subject to the availability upon reservation is made.
06> Copy of client’s passport and China visa have to be provided for application of entry permit for Tibet.   Kindly forward to us as soon as reservation is made.
07> In view of limited availability of local tour guide and train ticket, reservations for tours to Tibet are recommended to make minimum 3 months in advance.
08> Ping’An Hotel in Longsheng is considered as a guesthouse which provides basic accommodation with simple breakfast.  Client is suggested to bring along light carry-on bag good for an overnight stay and bulky luggage could be stored on the coach / car.  Besides, client is also recommended to wear   comfortable shoes
09> The show “Impression Sanjie Liu” creatively combines the classical Sanjie Liu's Songs, ethnic groups’ culture and the fishing lights together, to reflect the harmonious atmosphere between human beings and the nature. The performance lasts for 70 minutes with 600 actors and actresses are involved.  Please note that the show will be cancelled for bad weather condition.
10> It takes 2 hours approximately to finish the walking tour of Silver Cave which is 2km long and a pair of comfortable shoes is recommended.
11> The best travelling season to Longsheng is from Mar to Apr and Jul to Dec. It is the raining season in May and Jun.  The temperature in Jan & Feb could be as low as 3 - 4 oC up in the mountain
